Midday News Links: AT&T Bringing Fast Fiber Network Internet To Chicago

  • AT&T announced Tuesday that they are expanding their fiber network to the Chicago market. AT&T said its fiber network can deliver speeds of up to one gigabit per second, about 100 times the national average. Pricing and availability will be announced at a later date. [Tribune]
  • President Barack Obama will be in Chicago on Sunday to lead a massive voter rally for Gov. Pat Quinn. Early voting starts Monday in Illinois. [Sun-Times]
  • Meanwhile Vice President Joe Biden will visit the Chicago area on Oct. 22 to headline a rally for three Democrats, Sen. Dick Durbin, Gov. Pat Quinn and first-term Rep. Brad Schneider. [Tribune]
  • A man jumped in and starting running alongside Chicago Marathon runners on Sunday while being chased by the police. Police were wanting to question the man after they noticed him digging in flower pots near the race course. Officers found an Altoids box with 10 capsules of suspected MDMA and a wad of bills totaling $531, according to a police report. [DNAinfo Chicago]
