'Twin Peaks' + Tiki = Tremendous

2014_10_18freakytiki.jpg You might have heard a little something about that show you like coming back in style. Yes, Twin Peaks will return in 2016, preceded by more speculation than you can shake a jelly donut at. Co-creator Mark Frost's book The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks will be published in late 2015, but that's still an awful long time to wait.

The sheer anticipation has left us desperately in need of a drink. And if there's one sort of drink we like the most, it's (huge surprise) of the tiki variety. But this side of Dr. Jacoby's fantasy island, where the heck would we be able to sip a tropical drink while luxuriating in the world of Twin Peaks?

The Whistler, as it turns out. This Thursday evening, the geniuses at the Logan Square bar have found a way to combine two things that really hit the spot. "Freaky Tiki" will feature the mood music stylings of The Bookhouse Boys, who will perform selections from Angelo Badalamenti's soundtrack to Twin Peaks plus tunes from other Lynch films. Meanwhile the Whistler's mixologists will be shaking up a special menu of tropical libations that we're sure Dr. Jacoby would love. We're pretty sure there isn't a batter way to spend Halloween Eve.

The Whistler is at 2421 N. Milwaukee Ave. Freaky Tiki begins at 6 p. m.
