Chicago answered with another goal from Toews and a goal from Marian Hossa, which was Hossa's 1,000th career point. The Senators forced overtime with a Mika Zibanejad goal with 2:08 in regulation.

After a scoreless overtime period, Patrick Sharp gave the Hawks the second point with a tally in the third round of the shootout.
