Has your friendly neighborhood beard-o been strutting around the block with a recently shorn face and you can't figure out why? It's Movember!

What began as a stunt to draw attention and raise money for prostrate cancer research has grown into a global program addressing a number of men's health programs. According to Movember United States, "The Movember Foundation challenges men to grow moustaches during Movember (formerly known as November), to spark conversation and raise vital funds for its men’s health programs. To date, 4 million moustaches have been grown worldwide, but we won't stop growing as long as serious men’s health issues exist." These issues have expanded to include testicular cancer, mental health and general education on men's health.

While the official start of Movember was a few days ago, you can still get in on the action tonight at East Room. Beard shavings will be supplied by Chicago Barbershop and food will be brought in from Boiler Room to help those suffering from a Sampson-esque loss of strength as their facial hair is shorn. The best part of the deal is that Jameson is sponsoring a team and tonight's event, so if you join the Movember Jameson Black Barrel network, and that team raises $25,000, Jameson will double the donation and make it $50,000. So stop by tonight, clear that facial bramble you've been cultivating and help out a good cause!

East Room is located at 2828 W. Medill, and the event kicks off at 8 p.m.
