Extra Extra: Former U.S. Rep. Lane Evans Dies

  • Former Illinois Rep. Lane Evans has died after a long fight with Parkinson's disease. The Democrat died Wednesday at a nursing home in East Moline, Illinois. He was 63. Evans was first elected in 1982 and went on to serve 12 terms. He left office in Jan. 2007 after his health started to deteriorate. [Sun-Times]
  • Illinois employers warned they may lay off 900 workers in the coming months according to notices filed with state regulators. Happy Holidays? Sigh. [Chicago Tribune]
  • On Wednesday, Aldermen added limos to an existing street parking ban. [Chicago Tribune]
  • Meanwhile, another Alderman proposed an ordinance on Wednesday that would ban sex offenders from libraries during the summer months. [Sun-Times]
