Chicagoist Weekend Theater: Anatomy of Habit, Live

Chicago underground supergroup Anatomy of Habit, who release their Relapse Records debut on Tuesday, have songs whose heavy, genre-defying songs are frequently cinematic enough to break the 20-minute. Who better to have live clips of for our weekend theater?
We've been fans of the group, whose members also play in local outfits like Indian, Bloodyminded, and Tortoise, since first catching them in 2011. In addition to playing around, the local quintet have released an LP and an EP. Ciphers + Axioms, the group's second album, and first record for metal label Relapse Records, is now streaming at Pitchfork through Tuesday. The record's two tracks, each twenty minutes long, are absolutely worth your time. Ciphers + Axioms plays like a funhouse joy ride through every demented subgenre heavy music has to offer. What's even more impressive is how Anatomy of Habit replicates their sound live.
