Derrick Rose showed flashes of his early brilliance in his return to the starting lineup Monday night at the United Center. The Bulls point guard led a balanced attack with 24 points and seven assists in 32 minutes, a season high in playing time for Rose. Pau Gasol earned his fifth double double on the season with 17 points and 15 rebounds, Joakim Noah scored 13 points, grabbed 14 boards and dished out six assists and Jimmy Butler added 19 points for Chicago, who are now 6-2 on the young season.

Coach Tom Thibodeau and Noah said Rose set the tone for the Bulls early. "The first half I thought he was great," Thibodeau said. Noah added, "When he's out on the court, he demands so much attention and it opens up a lot of easy opportunities for everybody else."

It was the first time this season the Bulls projected starting lineup of Rose, Noah, Butler, Gasol and Mike Dunleavy played together. Next up, a trip to Toronto to face the 6-1 Raptors.
