Though details are still limited, media outlets are reporting that a 24-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by not one, but two cars early Saturday morning.
According to Chicago Police Department spokespersons, the accident occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday morning near the Belmont Avenue exit on Lake Shore Drive.
DNAinfo reports the man "was riding a bicycle on outer Lake Shore Drive when he was struck by two cars."
Not exactly his lucky day.
After the accident, the man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he's in critical condition, according to Chicago Police Department spokesman Hector Alfaro, who spoke to the Chicago Tribune.
UPDATE: The Chicago Tribune has updated their story, as has
DNAinfo.
The Trib reports that the bicyclist, whose condition is still critical, was "highly intoxicated" and was "swerving" when he was struck by a Mitsubishi sedan. [Which, apparently, was an Uber car, according to DNAinfo, thus making this the most Lakeview story ever.] The driver of the sedan got out to help, when another car, a Honda Civic, crashed into the bicyclist, the Mitsubishi, and a Nissan sedan who had also stopped to help.
