Celebrate Local Lit At The 2014 Chicago Book Expo

This Saturday lit lovers will have the chance to look back at the accomplishments of the Chicago literary scene and impressive releases from Chicago-based authors and publishers at the 2014 Chicago Book Expo.

The event, which is now in its third year, makes its move from Uptown to a larger space in the department of Creative Writing at Columbia College. Bibliophiles will get to explore a pop-up bookstore curated for the expo along with readings from local authors and literary panel discussions. Appearances will include host of Write Club Ian Belknap, Book of Jezebel contributor Kate Harding, Chicago-based authors Rebecca Makkai and Cristina Henriquez and many more.

The event then leads up to the 2014 Chicago Literary Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony a short walk away at Roosevelt University’s Ganz Hall. This year's inductees include Margaret Anderson, David Hernandez, Edgar Lee Masters, Willard Motley, Shel Silverstein and Margaret Walker. Attendees will have the opportunity to bundle up and take a Chicago literary walking tour beginning at 5:15 p.m. between events.

A full list of authors, publishers and speakers, along with the official schedule of events is currently posted for bookworms to choose their own adventure create their own schedule. Doors open at 11 a.m. and admission is free.
