Do you know that "xi" is a word? Are you still riding the high of that one time you managed to play “chutzpah” on a triple word score? Has Words With Friends lost some of its original thrill? Then maybe you should use your unique way with words to benefit one of our favorite nonprofit writing and tutoring centers.

Registration is now open for the 826CHI’s annual fundraising event Scrabble for Cheaters. Teams of two may sign up and begin raising money in order to buy “cheats” for their games against opponents. The top thirty-six teams with the most raised money will face off on Jan. 31.

Cheats players can purchase include adding “Q”, “Z” or “X” to any word, the ability to consult the dictionary for a turn and the ultimate cheat you've been trying for years—inventing a word. Those who struggle with anagrams or frequently draw all vowels, can make a general donation benefiting all teams. The event will be held at 826CHI’s new location at 1276 N. Milwaukee Ave.
