Skating Ribbon Serves As Preview Of Maggie Daley Park

Maggie Daley Park is not yet ready for its closeup but a focal point of the project officially debut Saturday with the opening of the park's winding, quarter-mile skating ribbon.

The serpentine rink located at the north end of the park winds around two climbing walls and admission is free when it opens at 11:30 a.m. (Skate rentals after will cost $12.) In the summer the ribbon will be used for skateboarding and rollerblading. It's part of the $55 million which incorporates and renovates the former Daley Bicentennial Park with Cancer Survivors Park and Peanut Park and is named after the former Chicago First Lady.

Maggie Daley Park is expected to open sometime in Spring 2015. Keep up to date on the progress of the park using its online construction cameras.
