CTA Holiday Train Pulled From Tracks With Equipment Problem

The CTA Holiday Train is one of the transit agency's few bright spots for riders but even that can fall prey to outdated, faulty equipment.
The highly anticipated train made its final appearance on the Red Line Monday when it had to be pulled from the tracks because one of its doors wasn't closing properly. The train unloaded its passengers at 63rd Street after the problem was discovered and sped to the rail yard, speeding by (and breaking the hearts of) eager riders the entire way.
The train is expected to be back in service for its final run of the season on the Yellow Line this evening. The Holiday Train will run on the Yellow Line from 3 p.m. until 7:20 p.m. Today is also your last chance to ride CTA's Holiday Bus, which will run along Western Avenue. The bus heads north on Western from 79th Street at 11:45 a.m. before venturing back south from Western and Berwyn at 2:20 p.m. From there the bus will run from 79th and Western to the Western Avenue Orange Line station beginning at 5:30 p.m. before concluding its run with a southbound run from Archer and Western Avenues at 6:10 p.m.
