White Sox To Retire Paul Konerko's Number

The White Sox are wasting no time immortalizing Paul Konerko. The ballclub announced plans Thursday to retire Konerko's number 14 May 23, when the White Sox face the Minnesota Twins at U.S. Cellular Field. Konerko retired last season after 16 years with the pale hose. In 18 years in the majors Konerko hit .279 with 439 home runs, 1,412 RBI and was a six-time All Star. He's the Sox' career leader in total bases with 4,010, is second all-time in home runs and RBI, and third all-time in hits.

Konerko already a statue paying tribute to him at The Cell and the first 20,000 people through the gates will receive a replica statue courtesy of XFINITY. [Whitesox.com]
