Chicago is a hotbed of the DIY publishing movement and the Chicago Zine Fest fits perfectly into this ever-growing tradition. Zine Fest's mission is simple, yet ample and ambitious, as the annual gathering acts as a facilitating force to bring artists together to indulge in their craft and share ideas, offering an open space for creating through workshops and events. The Fest strives to highlight the work of small presses and self-publishing artists in one space, fostering collaboration, exposure and inspiration.

This Friday night at Beauty Bar (1444 W. Chicago Ave.), supporters of the Fest and artists of all kinds are encouraged to be utterly shameless through a night of unbridled karaoke facilitated by Shameless Karaoke KJ, Liz Mason. There will be a drink special as well as martinis and manicures if participants need to rest their vocal cords. The listing of songs to choose from range from Elvis Costello and Britney Spears, to Ozzie Osbourne and Madonna and everything in between, so everyone’s inner pop star or rock star can shamelessly command the audience.

The $5 admission benefits the 2015 Chicago Zine Fest and it all begins at 9 p.m.
