This Week In Chicago Food Porn: Furious Spoon Is Now Open

By Melissa McEwen in Food on Feb 23, 2015 6:30PM

For this week's food porn we wanted to highlight the delicious looking ramen from Furious Spoon (1571 N. Milwaukee Ave.), which is now open. They are offering four types of ramen: vegetable, shoyu, miso and the "Furious" spicy miso ramen from $6.75 - $11.75 a bowl. Check out the full menu here.

For the rest of our food porn we have a new dish from El Ideas (2419 W. 14th St.) - Duck with To'ak Chocolate, Limequat and Five Spice. To'ak chocolate is an ultra-premium chocolate that costs $260 a bar. We can't imagine buying chocolate at that price, but it fits in nicely in the tasting menu world, where people are used to paying a lot.

We thought the beautiful Winter Squash Raviolo. Mascarpone, Egg, Pecan, Brown Butter from A10 (1462 E. 53rd St.) looked mighty delicious, as did the toasted boudin with garlic rice, kimchi, pulled pork and a variation of sauce gribiche at Smalls Smoke Shack (4009 N. Albany Ave.).

Hidden gem Big Delicious Planet Canteen (412 N. Wolcott Ave.) in West Town always has great dessert selections and it looks like their banana almond bread pudding is no exception. Hurry into Siena Tavern (51 W. Kinzie St.) before this month ends to try their ice cream of the month, which is a red velvet gelato that includes chunks of the cake layered with vanilla, creme de cocoa and marshmallow cream cheese fluff.
