Meet Kobe, Shedd Aquarium's Newest Rescue Dog

Readers know we love dogs here, especially adoptees. And our current office manager is encouraging we take a break right now.

Before we do, we want to introduce you to the latest rescue dog from Shedd Aquarium. Kobe is a 3-1/2 year old male Dogo Argentino mix adopted by the Shedd through Lucky Dog Rescue, a group doing the Lord's Work keeping as many homeless dogs away from "kill shelters" as possible.

Kobe was originally found as a stray by Kendall Animal Control two years ago. Thin and dirty with a rope tied around his collar, he was believed to have been a junkyard dog and his previous owners attempted to crop his ears with a pair of scissors. He was slated to be euthanized before Lucky Dog stepped in and adopted him.

Kobe was easily trained by Lucky dog but his energetic nature and his being a "bully breed" resulted in him being passed over by prospective pet owners before the Shedd came calling.

Kobe will now take part in the Shedd's "One World" exhibit along with Dory, a female Shepherd mix; and Marlin, a male Labrador mix.

Damn, that dog is cute.
