NBC 5 News kept it all in the family on Monday night with a special moment between father and son newscasters Lester and Stefan Holt that had even sportsman Mike Adamle quipping, “Did we just see television history?”

Stefan Holt normally works the morning shift for the Chicago news station but after filling in for a colleague on the 5 p.m. broadcast Monday night, he had the unique opportunity to turn over the national news to none other than Lester Holt—his father.

“NBC’s Lester Holt is here with a preview of tonight’s newscast,” said Stefan, before ending with, “Hi, Dad.” Lester took the brief moment to tell his son he was proud of him, and a collective “awwww” was heard around the city.

Lester and Stefan Holt continue a great Chicago tradition of dynasty newscasters including Phil, Dan and Anthony Ponce, Robert and Karen Jordan and Dan and Lauren Jiggetts.
