Chicago Has A New Beachfront Music Festival

For a city built on a great lake, Chicago has struggled to find a waterfront music festival that works. First there was Wavefront, the troubled Montrose Beach event that brought huge acts like Justice and Fatboy Slim but failed to make it more than two years. Next came Riverwest, 2014’s modest riverside dance fest that brought quality performances but could have used a lot more planning. This summer, a new contender enters the ring and the potential is huge.

React Presents, the mega-promoters behind Spring Awakening, North Coast and Wisconsin’s Summer Set Music Festival announced today Mamby on the Beach. The two-day event is set for July 11 and 12 at a brand new venue on Chicago’s Oakwood Beach and there’s no lack of talent. Fresh off of their new record Kindred, Passion Pit will headline alongside Australian pop-electro kings Empire of the Sun. Mamby’s strength extends into its undercard with Röyksopp, Cashmere Cat, Phantogram, Robert Delong and what is guaranteed to be a blazing hot (and probably vinyl) DJ set from LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy.

To top it all off, there’s a $125 Groupon for a two day pass available now! Check out the full lineup below.
