Wicker Park, Taco Bell And Alcohol—Together At Last

By Jim Bochnowski in News on May 14, 2015 5:10PM

Good news for all of you who live on the west side of town and want to "Live Más": After months of rumor and speculation, a Taco Bell is finally coming to Wicker Park.

But even more interesting, it's being reported that the establishment is applying for a liquor license, which if obtained will make it the first ever Taco Bell in America to sell alcohol. According to a spokesperson for Yum! Brands (the corporation that owns Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut), the restaurant will also feature a "completely new urban restaurant design," which will sort of kill my nostalgia for the days of eating Taco Bell in an ugly suburban structure.

Sure, you could go to one of the hundreds of wonderful establishments in the city that serve actual tacos or burritos. Or, you could buy vaguely Tex-Mex food full of meat of questionable origin, wrapped in a Dorito-flavored shell while drinking what is inevitably going to be a Mountain-Dew flavored margarita of some kind.

One thing is for sure: If there was a Taco Bell that served alcohol when I was in college, I would be dead right now.
