Illinois Is One Step Closer To Happy Hour Being Legal Again

The Culinary and Hospitality Modernization Act we wrote about last week has passed both houses and now only awaits the governor's signature. SB0398 will legalize happy hours again with some restrictions, such as discounts being allowed up to fours a day and/or 15 hours a week as long as they are advertised a week in advance. Some of the limitations would include happy hour deals being prohibited after 10 p.m. and no volume specials such as two for one drink deals.

It also makes an assortment of other reforms including allowing restaurants to make their own infused spirits and legalizing food and drink pairings under one price. Also ever try buying alcohol at a liquor or grocery store on Sunday morning and found you had to wait until noon? It removes that regulation as well.
