An Uber driver operating in suburban Rolling Meadows was arrested after firing a gun at passengers who vandalized his car over the weekend.
The driver, Marvin White, picked up five passengers following a party early Saturday morning, the Chicago Tribune reports. As three of the passengers were leaving the vehicle, they got into a verbal altercation with White.
One of the passengers, Alan Slawson, who was, according to police reports, "visually intoxicated," responded by throwing a rock through White's moon roof. At that point, White allegedly retrieved a gun hidden in the car and fired at the passengers. As they ran away, White exited the car and continued firing in their direction, reports say.
It should be noted that White had a legal permit to carry a handgun, according to the Tribune. White was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and Slawson was charged with criminal damage to property.
This marks the second time in two months that an Uber driver in the Chicagoland area has been accused of discharging a firearm while on duty. In April, another driver allegedly fired at a man who was shooting a gun into a crowd on Milwaukee Avenue.
