Popular Pilsen restaurant Nightwood (2119 S. Halsted) will close on July 11. Nightwood opened in 2009 as a collaboration between Heisler Hospitality (Trencherman, Revel Room, Pub Royale) and Jason Hammel (Lula Cafe), and enjoyed a great deal of buzz and popularity under the guidance of Chef Jason Vincent until he left last spring. Since then buzz waned, but its brunch still has a cult following.
In a press release Hammel states that “Nightwood continues to be a beautiful and fruitful place, with a dedicated and much-loved service staff and some of the most talented, hilarious, and thoughtful cooks and dishwashers I have ever had the privilege of working with. But, the time has come for me and my partners, Matt Eisler and Kevin Heisner, to commit ourselves elsewhere.”
Nightwood will be open for dinner Monday through Saturday 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and for brunch 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. except for July 4 and July 6.
