Watch A Free Horror Movie In A Cemetery This Friday

By Rachel Cromidas in Arts & Entertainment on Aug 11, 2015 2:10PM

The presence of a cemetery makes everything a little bit creepier, and with that in mind the Northwest Side's Bohemian Cemetery is slated to host a free horror movie screening this Friday.

For its first-ever movie screening, the historic cemetery on North Pulaski Road has selected Sinister, a supernatural, true-crime-esque 2012 film that has a sequel coming to theaters soon.

Watch people battle ghost children, evil spirits and the threat of insanity on screen while surrounded by a century-old cemetery founded by Bohemian, Moravian and Slovak immigrants escaping religious persecution in the late 1800s.

The movie begins at 9 p.m. Aug. 14 in the park's picnic grounds, which unfortunately (?) do not have any grave sites. Gates open at 8 p.m. and the screening is free and open to the public. One small hitch: unlike some other summer movie screenings, alcohol is not allowed.
