Pay $20,000 For A Ticket To The Cubs Playoffs' Home Game

If you're hoping to score tickets to Monday night's Cubs game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field, you better have a lot of cash to burn.

Tickets on StubHub start at $300 for standing room only and go up to $20,000 for a seat in infield box 116 as of Thursday afternoon. Tickets are averaging $715 a piece for the Monday and Tuesday games in Chicago, according to Jake Sharpless, a digital marketing specialist at ticket price aggregator Rukkus.

"To put this in perspective, the 'get in' price for this game is close to or on the same plane as some NBA Finals, Stanley Cup and World Series prices," Chris Matcovich, vice president of data for secondary market aggregator, TiqIQ.com told CNBC.

Cubs home game tickets are selling for more than double the price of Cardinals home game tickets, Sharpless said. So if you're dying to go to a game, a trip to Busch Stadium might be your best bet. It's not a very long drive and Amtrak tickets to St. Louis are looking a lot cheaper than Wrigley tickets.

The price difference is not a huge surprise because Chicago's a bigger market, the Cubs are an iconic team, and let's face it, a playoff game at Wrigley is pretty rare. The Cardinals have won two World Series in the last ten years, so they're no stranger to the playoffs.
