Alton Brown Is Bringing His Singing Puppets And Cooking Demos To Chicago

By Marielle Shaw in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 13, 2015 2:00PM

If you were to splice together Mr. Wizard, Bill Nye, the Mythbusters and someone like Julia Child, and then add a pinch of sardonic wit and a touch of sadism, we're pretty sure what you'd get is Alton Brown. His sense of humor pairs wonderfully with his desire to really educate foodies and first time cooks alike on what it is they're about to cook and what really makes a dish sing.

We've been fans of his since Good Eats was in its infancy, and continue to follow his career from cookbooks to Iron Chef emceeing, now to the downright dastardly challenges concocted on Cutthroat Kitchen. Not only does he know his stuff, he's more than willing to dress like a giant kernel of popcorn if it will help illustrate a point.

We're not entirely sure what he has cooked up for his recently announced Eat Your Science, but according to his website it includes "All-new puppets. New songs. Even more dangerous culinary demonstrations."

Alton recently published a list of tour dates on his website, and we were overjoyed to see a May 7 date at the Cadillac Theatre among the stops. Tickets are already on sale for the 8 p.m. Chicago show, with best available hovering at $57, and we're guessing they'll go pretty quickly. In this case, your patience will not be rewarded, so we recommend you plot your course for culinary adventure now.

UPDATE: A 2 p.m. show has been added on May 7, and tickets for that event go onsale on Oct. 23.
