Tickets Start At $3,000 For A Cubs World Series At Wrigley Field

The Cubs just advanced to the National League Conference Series but fans are already thinking about World Series tickets.

They better be ready to pay record-setting prices if they want to attend a World Series game at Wrigley Field. Tickets for the cheap seats on the resale market could be at least $3,000, according to Bloomberg.

A World Series game hasn't been played at Wrigley since 1945 so it's not shocking that some diehard fans might choose tickets over their mortgage. Tickets for three potential World Series home games are listed for an average of $6,750, $6,754 and $8,443 respectively on ticket aggregator SeatGeek. Each amount is more than triple the site's past record.

On another ticket aggregator site TiqIQ, the cheapest ticket for each of the three games is around $3,000 and the average price is $3,891. Current prices on StubHub are slightly lower starting at $2,381 for standing room only for Game One.

More tickets will become available when the team conducts their public sale (and if they make it). Only season tickets are being sold now, so prices will likely drop.

Most of this money certainly isn't going to the Cubs, it's lining the pockets of brokers, resale sites and aggregators.
