The holidays are approaching and it's almost time for Chicago's official Christmas tree to be lit at its new Millennium Park location.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place in the park on Tuesday Nov. 24. World-famous opera singers Renee Fleming and Danielle de Niese are scheduled to perform along with cast members from Emerald City Theatre's A Charlie Brown Christmas and the Latin Music Project Ensemble, according to Choose Chicago's website.

The performances begin at 5:30 p.m. and the lighting will happen at 6 p.m.

The enormous Christmas tree is arriving very soon. The Chicago Department of Transportation announced that northbound Michigan Ave. will be closed at Washington Street tonight from 8:45 p.m. through 1:00 a.m. to move the tree into the park. Southbound Michigan Ave. will remain open and one eastbound Washington left-turn lane will stay open for vehicles to turn left onto northbound Michigan Ave.

The city decided to move the tree to Millennium Park this year from its classic Daley Plaza location to be closer to the ice skating rink, caroling at Cloud Gate and Maggie Daley Park.
