It was a year where people seemed ever more obsessed with documenting their every move on one of the most popular photo sharing platforms ever, Instagram. So we reached out to Instagram to see which locations in the state were proving the most popular for folks to snap and share photos from.

We're not surprised that the vast majority of the locations are in Chicago, but we were caught off guard by a few revelations: For one, people still can't decide whether to call it The Bean or Cloud Gate—it's clear that Chicago dominated the attentions of Instagrammers within the borders of Illinois. And number one on the list really surprised us, eclipsing even the Bean (as well as Millennium Park, Navy Pier and Soldier Field, for that matter).

So without further ado, here are the 20 most-Instagrammed locations in Illinois.
