With their darkened display halls, after-hours museum events always feel sort of illicit—like you broke in and there just happened to be cocktails, bartenders, and a bunch of other people waiting for you. The Adler Planetarium, especially, excels at hosting evening festivities. At its monthly Adler After Dark events, patrons 21+ can see the stars while enjoying cocktails, wine, and light entrees—and Adler just released their 2016's list of dates and themes.

Some of our favorite themes are the "Geek Chic: Episode IV" event planned for March, a sort of C2E2 companion; the ever-popular "Planetary Prom" in May (because grown-ups want to get dressed to the nines just for fun, too!); June’s "Jumpin’ Jupiter" party, which coincides with the Juno spacecraft’s arrival at the gas giant; and September’s "Boldly Go," a Trekkie treat.

Tickets are available for $20 in advance and $25 at the door, but these events often sell out well ahed of time. Event attendees can also add on a tour of the planetarium’s Doane Observatory for an additional $5.
