The father of 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier, an engineering student who was shot and killed by police in Saturday’s police-involved shooting, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city on Monday, the Sun-Times reports.
Antonio LeGrier’s lawsuit alleges that police made no move to help his son as he lay dying, and that the city has confiscated video pertaining to the shooting.
LeGrier also alleges that police arrested him, though he hadn't committed a crime, and took him to a station for questioning, “thereby separating him from his dying son and family,” the Sun-Times says.
The lawsuit further claims that when Quintonio was shot, he had not broken any laws, or done “anything that suggested that he was armed with a weapon,” according to the Sun-Times.
