Beth Stelling Headlines Paper Machete This Weekend

Beth Stelling is certainly making the most of her time this week during her stay in Chicago, the city where she got her start in comedy. In addition to her scheduled three night stand at Zanie's Comedy club this weekend, she's added a stop to the venerable Saturday afternoon live variety show The Paper Machete.

Since 2010, the entertainment show has inhabited a number of venues—Green Mill is its current home—and invited scores of comedians, poets, bands, and other theatrical performers to its stage. Any given performance could include a few songs, some improv comedy, a blistering personal essay and a puppet show. It's always a good time.

Joining Stelling on this weekend's bill in New York comedy group team Submarine, who also got their start in Chicago, as well as Sean Flannery, Dave Helem, Sam Irby and Patrick Rowland. This weekend's house band is the funk ensemble Fatbook.

The show starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, and is free to the public. of course that means we highly recommend you get there well ahead of time to ensure admittance since this weekend's show will probably play to a capacity crowd.
