Amy Schumer's Dreamy New Beau Is A Chicago Furniture Designer

By Emma G. Gallegos in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 6, 2016 4:43PM

Expect to see more of Amy Schumer around: per Instagram, she has a new boyfriend who is also a furniture designer in Chicago.

In retrospect, the zeitgeisty comedian who hails from New York has been spending quite a lot of time in Chicago lately. She performed quite a few shows at Constellation late this summer and around Christmas, and she braved Wrigleyville so that she could dance on Billy Joel's piano with Jennifer Lawrence. Maybe she loves the city, maybe she wanted to hang with her brother (who is a transplant) or maybe it's because things seem to be going swimmingly with Ben Hanisch, the founder of custom furniture company Last Workshop. (Or maybe all of the above?)

A brief perusal of his social media accounts reveals he is an excellent craftsman of credenzas and swing set dining tables (!!!). He also has very sweet things to say about his girlfriend, "Sometimes in life you get extremely lucky, and the smartest, funniest, most beautiful woman comes along when you least expect it. Here's to what adventures 2016 brings!"

Jezebel believes that Hanisch bears a strong resemblance to Sex And The City's Aidan, a sweet puppy dog of a character who never stands a chance with Carrie. But perhaps he's more like the titular character of Magic Mike, who is "good with his hands" and designs "warm industrial" custom furniture. It turns out the furniture designer beau is something of a trope in romantic comedies!

Schumer also shared a photo of the two of them in front of the White House with Trainwreck producer Kim Caramele and Schumer's brother and Chicago bass clarinetist Jason Stein.
