Two men forced their way into a room in the Congress Plaza Hotel downtown Saturday morning and robbed five hotel patrons at gunpoint, authorities say.

Police said the robbers took phones, wallets, purses and cash from the victims—three 20-year-old men, and two women, ages 19 and 23. None of them reported injuries.

The robbers got to the hotel room at 8:33 a.m. by following one of the men upstairs, according to police. Once they left the scene, the victims called hotel security, who chased the offenders through the lobby. Ultimately, the robbers escaped out the front entrance of the hotel.

No suspects are in custody, police said, but a gun was recovered at the scene.

Beyond being the site of this robbery, Congress Plaza Hotel is known for being extremely haunted and "formerly elegant."
