As every foodie in Chicago now knows, Monday was the big one-day return of Hot Doug's at Publican Quality Meats. Hundreds of people stood in line in the below-zero cold for sausages, which speaks either to how amazing these sausages are or how crazy Chicago food lover can get.
All over social media, there was lots of fervor about lines, a ton of love for Doug and a few people baffled at the insanity of it all.
Only in Chicago: it's 1 degree & people wait in line for hot dogs. Ok it is @hotdougs @PublicanQuality pic.twitter.com/W5ngyTbopk

Just remembered that I have a hotdog from @hotdougs in my coat pocket. A pocket pup of my very own... This train ride just became bearable.

I have never been so jealous of people so cold. Wish I was warming myself with @hotdougs.

Remember that time I, and other adults, willfully waited in 0 degree weather for *an hour* for the fancy hot dog...
