The first month of 2016 has been full of bloodshed. At least 202 people have been shot and 34 of them were killed as of Friday, according to the Tribune.

The number of shootings is about double "what they were in 2015, a year when shootings and homicides rose sharply in Chicago," the Tribune said.

Three people were fatally shot and seven more were wounded from Thursday through Friday morning on the South and West sides.

Typically there are less shootings in the cold weather but three people were killed on Jan. 13 despite the temperature being in the single digits.
