Ukrainian Village Named The Hottest Neighborhood In The U.S. By Redfin

It's been popular for years, but Ukrainian Village is now the hottest neighborhood in the country, according to a new ranking.

The folks at real estate listings website Redfin have named Ukrainian Village not only the hottest neighborhood in Chicago, but in the U.S. The neighborhood's fantastic location and wide range of housing options from historic to new construction make it stand out from the crowd, according to a statement from the company.

"Ukrainian Village itself is tranquil, but bordered on all four sides by business and nightlife corridors," Redfin real estate agent Niko Voutsinas said in the statement. "For someone who wants a single-family home while still enjoying city life, the location is ideal. Much of Ukrainian Village is landmarked, so you'll find brick and stone housing built in the late 1800s, rather than the trendier (and more expensive) new construction condos nearby and on the neighborhood's main thoroughfares."

Moving west is fashionable: the West Loop and the East Village were named the second and third hottest neighborhoods in Chicago.

Redfin determined the rankings by seeing which neighborhoods had the "highest increase in total page views and favorites on Redfin's website and apps over the course of the second half of 2015.Those neighborhoods that experienced the most growth in these metrics are projected to show increased transactions and prices in 2016 - and our predictive model in years past has been successful," according to the statement.
