We can't believe it took this long, but Chicago is seeing it's first annual "Pizza Summit" this spring.
Old Style and Empty Bottle Presents are bring 12 cooks from various restaurants around the city together at Chop Shop (2033 W. North Ave.) on April 3. Some of the chefs will be serving slices and others will be cooking up their pizza-inspired culinary variations. The full line-up will be released at a later date.
The summit will be an appearance by a true patron of pizza, Andrew WK. The rock and/or roller / motivational speaker / advice columnist / King of Partying will be delivering a keynote speech at the event, and we can only hope that his pizza shaped guitar will also be making an appearance. And we're told various Chicago-based DJs will be providing the soundtrack as attendees take in all-you-can-eat pizza related bites.
Tickets to the event are $35 and include limitless access to the food, 5 beers and a pizza shaped plate created by the organizers. Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. for two different sessions; one from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the other from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
