Watch A Far South Side Bridge Explode

Some days, you just need to watch a video of a Department of Transportation crew blowing shit up. And if today is that day, then we have a video for you:

The former-bridge crossed the Grand Calumet River at Torrence Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood. Illinois DOT construction workers are dismantling it after an inspection found the structural steel that held the bridge up was disintegrating.

The bridge has been closed since May 2015, according to the Sun-Times. Drivers can take a detour around the construction site until next summer, when the crews are slated to complete a new bridge with a special path for bicyclists and pedestrians.
