A massive, one-day walkout is underway among Chicago's public school teachers budgetary problems and racial inequality. They've also been joined by Chicago State University students and activists from several other movements, including the Black Lives Matters movement and the Fight For 15, which supports an increased minimum wage.

We've rounded up some Tweets from our reporter, Aaron Cynic, who is on the ground with the protesters, and other popular images as the Day of Action begins to unfold. Some protesters started picketing as early as 6:00 a.m., and there are actions planned up until past 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The walkout forced CPS to cancel Friday classes for some 300,000 public school students, according to the Tribune, and it could affect rush hour traffic in the Loop in the afternoon. We'll have more updates from our reporter as the day goes on.
