Photo: The Cubs' Ridic New Clubhouse Looks Like A Ritzy Nightclub

The Cubs have a new clubhouse and it, like the 2016 team itself (maybe) looks like a winner.

For a long time, the Cubs had one of the worst clubhouses in the league, and now it's, well, look at it:

"Those were just visions, and it’s important to have visions," Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein told CBS. "It's important to have visions. But it's another thing to execute."

It looks a little like a swanky Bush-era nightclub with those recessed blue lights and electric glowing panels. You half-expect a mixologist shaking up an appletini to appear in that center of the room to tell you where to find a foam after-party. And that's not far off. The Associated Press reports that that is a "lounge area" with "mood lighting" that frames the Cubs logo on the ceiling. There are drop-down TVs. The room is shaped as a circle to make it more egalitarian—there are no preferred lockers since there are no corners in a circle. The boys seem to like it:

It doesn't end there—far from it. The clubhouse, on the westside of the park below street level, is about three times the size of their old quarters at 30,000 square feet. It's now the second largest in baseball, according to AP. And they've clearly spared no expense.

On a media tour, the Cubs told reporters that it was all about maximizing performance. There are new strength and conditioning areas, and rehab facilities (where poor Kyle Schwarber will be trying to heal his torn knee ligament while he's out for the season). There is even a cryotherapy room and a float pod to help players chill and recover from the game. They're already getting heavy use:

There's plenty of old Cubs memorabilia and inspiration is literally written on the walls:

The dining facility will be serving up healthy, organic food. The lounge area sounds like a 14-year-old's dream (but we doubt they'll be allowing in teens like the White Sox). Players can chill in reclining leather chairs with cupholders, as well as play ping pong, foosball, Super Shot basketball and Golden Tee golf. There's even space for them to jam and guitars with amps and tambourines.

There really is a little club inside the clubhouse. Next to the old players' lounge is a postgame party area that comes decked out with strobe lights and music. It seems like it will get a lot of use this season:

Some Cardinals fans sound jealous:

But we can't wait to see the place get wrecked like this next time the Cards come into town:
