16 Arrested In Uptown In Police Narcotics Bust

Chicago police arrested 16 people and unearthed 20+ building violations as part of a two-month mission meant "to strike at the heart of gang operations," the department announced Monday. Called a "Takedown Mission" by the department, the effort was run by CPD's organized crime division, led by the narcotics and vice units.
All told, the mission resulted in 16 felony arrests, 10 buildings ordered closed by Chicago's Building Commissioner, and 22 building violations issued to buildings in the 1100 block of W. Argyle Street in Uptown. Two gambling machines were also seized in the 1100 block of W. Argyle Street.
This announcement comes while homicides in Chicago are at their highest levels this millennium, a fact some analysis attributes to a slowdown in police work (and arrests) following the Laquan McDonald scandal. In spite of that, gang-related missions like this one seem to be unfolding at a good clip; earlier this month, 64 were arrested in a day of raids targeting South Side gangs.
