It was a bad night to be in the path of a stolen vehicle in Chicago. Shortly after a man on the run from police crashed his car into another car, sending it flying into an Edgewater garden apartment, a separate police car chase went down in the South Loop, according to authorities.

Just before midnight, an Illinois State Trooper noticed that a stolen vehicle was driving by, and tried to make a traffic stop at the intersection of Roosevelt and Canal streets. The driver sped off to evade the state trooper, and in the process crashed into two cars stopped at the red light at Roosevelt and Michigan Avenue, Chicago police told the Sun-Times.

After the crash, the two suspects in the car ran away, but police recovered a handgun from inside the stolen car. One man was injured in the car crash and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital to be treated.
