Update, July 1: This year's Rooftop Cinema Club season has been cancelled.

Free outdoor movies are taking over Chicago parks this summer—but, as the Onion pointed out last year, park movies have certain shortcomings. Sometimes, they make you yearn for upscale amenities, like chairs.

Enter Rooftop Cinema Club. Already established in London and Los Angeles, the club is coming to the rooftop of the downtown DoubleTree by Hilton (300 E. Ohio St.) for its first Chicago season. Screenings kick off with a June 15 showing of The Breakfast Club, and run Wednesday through Sunday at 8:30 p.m. (with select exceptions) until July 17.

The lineup centers mostly on classic oldies—including Chicago classics Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Blues Brothers, both screening in the season's first week—but there are a couple modern films screening, too. Room, for which Brie Larson just won a Best Actress Oscar, screens June 26; Straight Out of Compton screens July 1.

Rooftop screenings are open to ages 18+, and alcohol is available to viewers 21 and older. Tickets are $16.80 for general admission, and $27.40 for a ticket paired with bottomless popcorn and one soda, wine, beer, or sangria. Though the season hasn't started yet, tickets are currently on sale here.
