Video Shows Fight Breaking Out On North Avenue Beach On Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend left many of Chicago's lakefront beaches trashed last weekend, and the Park District scrambling to clean up the mess. But before hundreds of beachgoers walked away from their sea of litter, an intense brawl broke out on North Avenue Beach, according to a new video.

The video, obtained by Fox Chicago, shows hundreds of people enjoying the beach Monday when the fight began. The video begins with two men wrestling in the sand, and then escalates to show a crowd of dozens of people getting involved in some way, throwing punches or advancing on the people shoving each other at the center. At one point a man in a backpack is kneed in the head. It's unclear what started the fight or why it continued. The fight apparently escalated to people throwing bottles and coolers, an observer told Fox.

Police told Chicagoist that no arrests were made in connection with this fight, but police were stationed at North Avenue Beach that weekend. Police arrested several North Avenue Beach goers on Memorial Day Weekend on charges that include driving under the influence, violations of park regulations, theft, and reckless conduct.
