As the temperatures go up and we move toward the dog days of summer, what's better than spending those hot afternoons and warm nights with your favorite canine companion?

You can spend some quality time with your pup while also enjoying a tasty adult beverage in one of Chicago many dog-friendly bars. Pooches are welcome at plenty of establishments throughout the city, and if you're looking to get off your leash and explore a new doggy dive, there's always another spot to visit. Here are 15 of Chicagoist's favorite bars for dogs and their humans.

Benchmark

If you're treating yourself to a night out, why not go somewhere you can treat your dog as well? Dogs are welcome on the patio at this upscale Old Town sports bar, and once summer really gets rolling, Benchmark even offers a dog menu with snacks for your pooch. So while you treat yourself to some Barbacoa Nachos, Fido can enjoy his own miniburger.

Clark Street Ale House

Dogs are welcome inside and out at this River North pub and beer garden. Whether you want to take in the summer air with a microbrew on the patio or cozy up to a glass of whiskey at the long wooden bar, your pup will have a comfortable spot by your side.

Parson's Chicken & Fish

Is your canine friend a bit of a hipster hound? Bring your dog to Parson's for some quality outdoor time with plenty of other neighborhood pups. There's plentiful outdoor seating for you and your dog to enjoy at this Logan Square summer staple. With an outdoor bar, ping pong, picnic tables and Negroni slushies galore, it's hard not to bask in the summertime vibes here.

The Waterfront Cafe

Nothing says summer like sand and waves. The dog-friendly patio at Waterfront Cafe offers beautiful lake views and beachy breezes along with casual dining and live entertainment. This park-adjacent, seasonally opened Edgewater watering hole feels like a tropical vacation.

Archie's Iowa Rockwell Tavern

Patios can feel like an flat-out luxury after a long winter, but sometimes a hot summer day requires a cool inside dive. At Archie's, you and your pooch can come indoors to play a game of pool or put your favorite song on the jukebox until 11 p.m. This longtime neighborhood favorite in Ukrainian Village is so popular with the canine crowd, your dog will likely leave with some new four-legged friends.

Tack Room

Are you and your canine friend in the mood for something a little more rustic chic? Dogs are allowed at this live piano bar/artsy saloon, located inside a 125-year old carriage house in Pilsen and attached to Thalia Hall. With its slick brick walls, wooden bar and accents of skulls and cowboy wallpaper, Tack Room is a hipster home on the range.

The Promontory

You and your dog can enjoy two floors of beautiful views on the expertly designed patio at this Hyde Park bar and venue. This trendy establishment from the team behind Longman & Eagle offers hearth cuisine and classic cocktails while you enjoy the night air.

River Shannon

A classic of the Lincoln Park bar scene, River Shannon has been serving up Irish whiskeys and pints of beer since 1946. Dogs are welcome inside and out, and you might even find a smaller pup seated right next to you at the bar. Even better, there's free popcorn for you and a treat jar for your pooch.

Schoolyard Tavern & Grill

Looking for a chill spot to watch the game along with your dog? Head over to Schoolyard Tavern & Grill in Lakeview where dogs are welcome on the patio. You can even snap a selfie with your pup and hashtag it #4cpatiopuppies for a chance to win a $100 gift card.

Mash Kitchen

The massive patio at Mash, formally Bad Dog Tavern, is a great comfy casual spot for dogs. So while you enjoy a burger or some oysters in the sunshine of this Lincoln Square eatery, your dog will have room to spread out and make some new friends.

The Monarch

Want to enjoy outdoor dining in a trendy Wicker Park gastropub and bring your dog along too? The Monarch's backyard patio is a great neighborhood hangout and it's open to dogs. From here, you can watch the game or just play giant Jenga while you enjoy some drinks and snacks or even a full brunch.

Wishbone Restaurant

At Wishbone, your dog can get pampered with his own water bowl and treats, and your patronage is also a way to support other pups as well. This Southern-style eatery in West Loop regularly holds events to support One Tail at a Time and other Chicago animal welfare nonprofits.

The Four Treys Bar

Family-owned since 1968, this Roscoe Village neighborhood bar offers a place for you and Fido to lounge in comfy bar cars, play some pool and just kick back. There's no food served at Four Treys, but you can have food delivered while you relax with your best furry friend.

Kasey's Tavern

Billed as Chicago's second oldest tavern, Kasey's is a dog-friendly South Loop gem. With more than 130 beers to choose from, this bar's small outdoor patio offers a dog-friendly and people-friendly spot to enjoy a brew.
