Photos: Country Music Fans Took Over Northerly Island Last Weekend

Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, Kacey Musgraves and hordes of country fans took over Northerly Island this weekend for LakeShake Festival, the Lollapalooza of country music. The three-day festival's lineup was a mix of established and new, white and also-white talent. The highlight of the festival, Chicagoist photographer Tyler LaRiviere says, was Chris Janson's set. Janson—best known for his single "Buy Me A Boat"—played his own harmonica and made decent jokes, while his "dancing and flailing," kept everyone entertained.

The lowlight of the festival was the price of beer: $12.

The fans nevertheless drank plenty of Bud Light, LaRiviere reported, digging it almost as much as Tim himself. They also doggedly wore cowboy boots, even in 90-degree heat—a sign of real character, maybe. Other fashion that caught LaRiviere's eye included National Rifle Association hats, Make America Great Again hats (sigh) and at least one camo jacket featuring the message "Southern Lives Matter" (extremely loud sigh).
