A 4-year-old child was shot in the jaw on Tuesday night around 9:10 p.m. in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood. A 28-year-old woman was also wounded in the head.

The child—identified by relatives as Kavan Collins, according to the Sun-Times—was walking with his mother, brother and a family friend in the 6400 block of South King Drive, according to police. They first heard fireworks, then gunshots. The child was taken to University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital and listed in serious condition.

The female victim was in bed in her residence when she was shot. She was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and listed in good condition.

The shooters were driving in a dark-colored four-door vehicle and opened fire on a crowd that was gathered in a courtyard in front of a housing complex, police told Chicagoist.

Neither victim was the intended target; and there are no suspects in custody as of Wednesday morning, police said.

Community activist Pastor Corey Brooks said there would be a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
