Photos: Why The Lakefront Was Lit With Beautiful Candles Last Weekend

Oak Street Beach glimmered with thousands of candle lights last weekend as part of an event to honor people affected by domestic violence.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the folks at Between Friends, a Chicago-area non-profit that aids victims of domestic violence, organized Light Up the Lakefront to raise awareness and honor survivors of domestic violence and their family and friends. Our photographer Tyler LaRiviere was there to photograph the set up and the moment shortly after sundown on Saturday evening when the group lit the candles.
