Photos: Couple Turns CTA Into Love Train With Wedding On The 'L'

The CTA has had to grapple with some negative publicity as of late, but for one local couple, it's still stands as the ultimate symbol of civic pride—so much so that these crazy kids got married on the damn thing.

Bride Sandra Grigoletti, 34, and groom Eric D'Asto, 39, rode the rails—and tied the knot—on Sunday. Grigoletti told Chicagoist she noticed the CTA's train charter program a couple of years ago (prices start around $2000) and was convinced it would make the ideal venue.

"We're both huge Chicago nerds. We love sitting around watching Geoffrey Baer specials on Channel 11, Grigoletti said. "We knew this would be a great way to highlight the city."

Grigoletti, an amateur photographer, added that most of her published work tends to have a CTA focus—and she even has a CTA tattoo.

The couple chartered their big-day course from the Midway Orange Line stop, through the Loop, then onto the Green Line track, to Harlem. They finished the day with a trolley tour through the city boulevards before dinner.

"It was unique, just made it even more fun," said D'Asto. The journey gave out-of-town attendees a chance to see Chicago like they otherwise would not have, he said.

As for the honeymoon, Grigoletti and D'Asto said they will be heading to another transit standout in the near future: Amsterdam.
