Sorry ShopHouse Fans, Chipotle Is Giving Up On Its Sister Chain

We were huge fans of ShopHouse when we reviewed their Chicago location back in March. That's why we're particularly sad to hear that the chain is kaput.

ShopHouse was Chipotle's experiment with fast-casual Asian food, using many of the same service and production models as the parent chain. Unfortunately, things haven't panned out. The company announced Tuesday that the company's sales have continued to drop significantly in the wake of their various health scares. One casualty is ShopHouse, which has 15 locations around the country in D.C. Maryland, California and, of course, Illinois.

Instead, they're going to work on Chipotle-style pizza and burgers concepts. Which are not going to be nearly as interesting, but will probably make more money with less effort.

It doesn't look like the chain is shutting down immediately, so if you're a big fan (or if you have coupons), head over as soon as you can.
